Leah & Matthew (Bramley, Berkshire)

All Categories, Recent Weddings

Leah and Matthew got married out in the lovely Berkshire countryside near the village of Bramley.  The surroundings gave us many different environments with which to shoot, the Yew trees gave a church yard feel even though we were no where near a church!  Leah looked beautiful, all in all a great day’s shooting!

Anna-Maria & Martin (Landmark Hotel, Marylebone, London)

All Categories, Recent Weddings

The weather for Anna-Maria and Martin’s wedding was fantastic.  Broken cloud mixed with deep blue sky is ideal for photography.  It means the people do not need to squint in the photographs and it is a relief not to be too hot during a mid summer wedding, especially for the bride!  Anna-Maria and Martin are both Scandinavian so their ceremony was in the “Swedish” church in Marylebone, London.  The reception was held in the luxurious Landmark Hotel which was also in Marylebone.  The bride and groom’s package included a post wedding photo shoot which we took a few weeks after their wedding date.  The location they chose was a wonderful beach in Dorset.

Wedding Ideas Magazine feature (June 2009)

All Categories, For Brides, Press

Fiona and Tim’s beautiful wedding was featured in June’s edition of Wedding Ideas Magazine.  The location was very special, set in the rolling hills deep within the lush Dorset countryside.  Fiona looked stunning as did her bride’s maids.  All images used for the article were chosen from my collection.

Laura & Remco, (Syon Park, London).

All Categories, Recent Weddings

Laura and her groom, Remco, had their ceremony and reception at Syon Park, London.  The house is still owned and lived in by the Duke of Northumberland, but it is now also a very successful venue for weddings.  The setting was fabulous, I had great opportunities to take photographs of the bride and groom walking through the house, great window light and a relaxed atmosphere made for lovely photogaphs.  The evening reception took place in the Great Conservatory, a building which inspired the designs for the famous Crystal Palace!  It was a joy to photograph Laura and Remco’s wedding.

Strobe lighting on a budget

All Categories, For Photographers

Alien Bees is a fantastic studio lighting company which offers good quality strobe lighting at an affordable price.  The company is based in the US, they manufacture lightweight flash heads and external power supplies.  There is also a wide rage of light modifiers available.  The power of these flash heads is limited however, while they’d be well suited for work in a enclosed studio they would struggle to produce enough light for shoots taking place outside on location.  The lights may not produce the same light quality or power as manufacturers such as Bowens or ProFoto but Alien Bees are a cheaper alternative.  As with everything it all comes down to money, if you can afford the best then ProFoto is a good choice.
