His love of photography began in 1994 when he undertook a two year National Diploma in photography. This provided him with a solid, technical foundation and a comprehensive understanding of many different forms of photography.

Hamish then worked for a local newspaper for over two years covering the sports pages as well as undertaking other various freelance assignments for national publications and photographic agencies. Many of his images have been used in brochures, books and web sites.
